About one year ago, Abby Block, Development Director of The Salvation Army Sheboygan, convened a small group of local nonprofit professionals, myself included, to talk about starting a Young NonProfit Professionals Network (YNPN) in Sheboygan.

Abby had been involved with the Baltimore chapter when she lived there and thought the organization could be of value to Sheboygan County. We are so fortunate to have many thriving nonprofits in this county, but with many executive directors approaching retirement, there is a shortage of individuals ready to fill those roles.

The intent of YNPN Sheboygan is provide emerging nonprofit professionals with the professional development and networking skills to fill those roles in the future.

The leadership team is comprised of Abby Block of The Salvation Army Sheboygan, Carolynn Lee of the Greater Lakes Education Foundation, Amanda Salazar of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Ariana Herbst of Habitat for Humanity Lakeside, Bradley Fisher of YNPN Milwaukee, and myself.

We’ve held several events in the past few months covering a variety of non-profit topics. Our next event will feature three panelists: Carrye Jo Cony of The Salvation Army Sheboygan, Ariana Herbst of Habitat for Humanity Lakeside and myself. We will share unique perspectives on recruitment, retention, engagement and recognition of non-profits’ greatest assets: their volunteers! Event details include:
