Welcome Kaitlin

by Emily Rendall-Araujo

We are excited to welcome Kaitlin Deschane to United Way of Sheboygan County as Director of Operations. Her first day was February 6.

Kaitlin, a 2015 graduate of Lakeland University in Nonprofit Organization Management & History, comes to us with several years of experience in the nonprofit industry. Her non-profit experience includes time with the Luxembourg American Cultural Society, Sheboygan Historical Museum, Heritage Hill State Park, the Sheboygan YMCA, and most recently United Way Manitowoc County.

In her time with United Way Manitowoc County, Kaitlin not only learned about United Way’s Community Impact model, but also assisted with the annual campaign fundraiser, managed volunteers, supported marketing efforts, and spent lots of time learning Andar, United Way’s database system. “I am grateful for the learning opportunities I received in Manitowoc County, and I am excited to apply those principals in my new role in Sheboygan,” Kaitlin says.

Kaitlin grew up in Crivitz, Wisconsin, and became familiar Sheboygan County while studying at Lakeland. She wanted to stay close to the area post-graduation for several reasons. First, Kaitlin fell in love with the local culture and diversity of residents. Second, Kaitlin loves the beach, especially with the added warmth from living two hours to the south from her hometown. Finally, Kaitlin wanted to be in Sheboygan County to be closer to her strong friendships she made while studying.

In this role with United Way of Sheboygan County, Kaitlin will manage the day-to-day operations of United Way, making sure every gift is entered correctly and donors’ wishes are fulfilled. Additionally, Kaitlin will oversee the annual budgeting process and IT operations.

Tom Malmstadt, executive director, says “Kaitlin brings an exuberance to this position and will be a great addition to the United Way of Sheboygan County staff. We are excited to add her to the team and know she will do great things.”
