Welcome to November! Goodness, where has time gone? Here at the United Way of Sheboygan County time has been flying. The Volunteer Center has been making some big strides and some big changes that the community needs to be aware of because a few of the changes involve our contact information.
As a brief background, United Way took the Volunteer Center under our wings back in June. Since then we have completed a strategic plan, integrated the Center into United Way’s branding and we are currently forming an Advisory Committee, which will be a subcommittee of United Way’s Board of Directors.
In making these changes, we have also integrated the website and phone number into United Ways. To reach the Volunteer Center all you have to do is call the United Way at 920-458-3425. The old 980-6658 phone number was released on Oct. 31 and is no longer in operation.
Additionally, the former Volunteer Center website, which houses a plethora of amazing volunteer opportunities at our area nonprofits, is now a part of United Way’s website. To search for the perfect volunteer opportunity for you, your family, your organization or your workplace just go to www.uwofsc.org/volunteer. Here you can search all of the needs in the community and you can easily search by the most recent volunteer need posted, by organization, or just scroll through all of them. This is a very user friendly volunteer software system that allows volunteers to respond to needs right through our website. Once you respond to a need, an email is sent directly to the volunteer coordinator of the organization you chose to assist, thus connecting the volunteer to the need.
We have also rejuvenated the Center’s Facebook page. Search us out using Volunteer Center Sheboygan and give us a quick “like.” As we keep moving forward, volunteer opportunities will be posted on our Facebook page as well as community information, special events our nonprofit members are having and of course pictures of volunteers in action.
With the holidays right around the corner it’s easy to think about helping others.
