The United Way staff has started dreaming about their favorite family food traditions for Thanksgiving. We can almost smell the turkey and taste the stuffing! The sharing of food is part of the Thanksgiving tradition and another important part is reflecting on the collective impact that has occurred in the past year.
Through the generosity of businesses and individuals, during United Way’s last fiscal year…
- 6,626 individuals received mentoring services
- 115 families received child care support
- 277 families received home parent training
- 12,048 individuals received budget counseling and financial education
- 257 families received rental assistance
- 20,860 nights of shelter were provided
- 51 students received weekly counseling services
- 57,630 meals were delivered to homebound individuals
- 18,128 nutritious meals and snacks were provided to students
These numbers represent the outcome of a greater story that encompasses the giving power of individuals and companies that give each year. Together we are working towards lasting change to improve community conditions by investing in programs and services that provide children, families and individuals awareness of and access to education, financial stability and health resources.
With the winter months ahead, it is so easy to take hot showers and a warm, running car for granted. The more we band together to provide awareness for the resources we have in our community, the more we lift the quality of life in Sheboygan County. It is for those reasons that we are grateful to live in a community that prioritizes those needs.
We are grateful for the individuals and companies that give from the heart as well as the Partner Agencies that give of their expertise and talents all year long. Between the delicious food and collective action being taken to strengthen our community, there are plentiful reasons to be grateful this year.
If you have a story of gratitude to share, United Way would love to hear about the resources and organizations that have helped you or a loved one. Contact United Way by calling 920-458-3425 or emailing info@uwofsc.org.
