Stamp Out Hunger

by Ann Wondergem

Saturday, May 9th is the annual National Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Letter carriers throughout Sheboygan County will be collecting your food donations.  Through the United Way of Sheboygan County, I have had the privilege to work with the Food for Tomorrow community impact focus area.  In working with the Sheboygan County Food Bank and the ten pantries, who are members of the Food Bank, I have learned a great deal about food donations and needs.

This year as you consider your food donation to Stamp Out Hunger consider including in your donation some healthier food options and maybe donating food to provide a meal for a family of four.  My donation this year will consist of a box of whole grain pancake mix that requires only water, a bottle of maple syrup, a bottle of 100% fruit juice in a plastic bottle and canned fruit in lite syrup.

I know that many families rely on the food pantries to meet their household food needs and the pantries rely on our donations. Please join me in helping the letter carriers in stamping out hunger.
