Spirit of Sheboygan County Volunteer Awards

Spirit of Sheboygan County

The volunteer efforts of individuals in Sheboygan County are a catalyst for what drives positive change in our community. The Spirit of Sheboygan County Volunteer Awards is designed to celebrate these extraordinary contributions. The event truly highlights the good work done in our community through volunteerism, valued at $10 million dollars in 2015. So many of our local businesses value giving back to the community and encourage their employees to volunteer. This event provides businesses an opportunity to publicly recognize the service of their employees in a venue where they can be celebrated not only by their colleagues but also by the nonprofits they work with.  All nonprofits want and need to be good stewards of their volunteers, yet many do not have the resources to thank their volunteers the way that they would like. The Spirit of Sheboygan County Volunteer Awards, to be held in February, provides a wonderful opportunity for them to do so in grand and public fashion.

The nine volunteer award categories include:

  • Individual Volunteer, honoring an individual volunteer
  • Group/Team Volunteers of the Year, honoring a group or team of two or more people that volunteer together on the same project under a group or team name
  • Youth Volunteer Star, honoring an individual under the age of 18
  • Outstanding Volunteer Board of Directors, honoring a nonprofit board that has shown exceptional leadership in driving a nonprofit organization
  • Perseverance in Volunteerism, honoring a volunteer who has overcome significant personal, mental and/or physical obstacles in order to engage in service to others
  • Community Spirit Award, honoring a corporation that has made a substantial impact in our community by promoting service to their employees by providing volunteer hours, engaging in other volunteer activities and providing paid time for employees to volunteer
  • Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring a volunteer who has exhibited a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and community service

Winners are selected by a panel of judges from the community.  All nominees will be recognized and honored at this event and winners will be announced live. Nominations are due by December 7th and are available at www.uwofsc.org or at the United Way office, 2020 Erie Avenue.
