Gina Covelli, Director of Community Impact, visits The Salvation Army, downtown Sheboygan, and speaks with Major Jay Davis.
United Way currently invests in the following programs at The Salvation Army:
- The Emergency Lodge
- Comprehensive Services
- The Red Shield Wellness Center
- Small Wonders Learning Center
In the last year, Salvation Army provided 10,000 nights of shelter. Their Emergency Lodge is more than a warm place to sleep. They also provide three meals per day, access to laundry, clothing, and a safe space in which to begin the journey to stability.
The team at Salvation Army focuses on long-term stabilities through their Comprehensive Services. Clients meet with an assigned case manager at least once per week to assist with their self-assigned goals. Case managers provide encouragement, structure, and additional resources as needed.
To continue to support their clients’ success, Salvation Army’s Red Shield Wellness Center provided 570 health-related needs in 2019, including mental health counseling, prescriptions, glasses, transportation and more.

Thank You, Major Davis and the team at Salvation Army for all the work you do for our community!
