Partner Spotlight: Lutheran Social Services

In this video, Gina Covelli is at Lutheran Social Services with Emily Kunde, a therapist and Coordinator of the Runaway & Youth Services (RAYS) program.

United Way invests in their following programs:

  •  Runaway & Youth Services (RAYS)

Runaway and homeless youth are some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The Runaway and Youth Services program provides confidential and voluntary crisis intervention, and referral services for both troubled youth and their families.

For these youth, program outcomes focus on youth meeting basic needs (access to food, clothing, and shelter); providing access to supportive services such as counseling; and helping them to develop independent living skills.

The second aspect of RAYS program focuses on prevention and on assisting youth who are at-risk for runway or homelessness in identifying and addressing issues before they reach a crisis level. Prevention-related outcomes focus on access to additional supports in the community, mental health services, family reunification (if appropriate) and life skills programming. These services combined to ensure that program youth are developing along a positive trajectory.

Thank you Emily and the team at Lutheran Social Services for your time and all the work you do for our community!
