Partner Spotlight: Girl Scouts of Manitou Council

Cassie Sterwald, Director of Communications with Girl Scouts of Manitou Council, shares how they work to make stronger girls and a stronger community. United Way of Sheboygan County currently invests in the following program for Girl Scouts of Manitou Council:

  • Girl Scout Leadership Experience

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun activities like earning badges, going on awesome trips, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors, and doing community service projects.

At Girl Scouts, girls get to lead their own adventure and team up with other girls in an all-girl environment to choose the exciting, hands-on activities that interest her most. Along the way, the girls gain important skills in four areas that form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience:

  • Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
  • Outdoors
  • Life Skills
  • Entrepreneurship

Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl Scouts is a place where girls can practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positions—and even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again.
