Tony Klockow, Kohler Credit Union CEO and UWSC Board President will lead search for Doll's successor
Jon Doll, Executive Director of United Way of Sheboygan County, has decided that after a long fulfilling career, that the time is organizationally right for him to transition out of the Executive Director role over the next year. This timing is consistent with his stated intentions coming into the role in 2013 and the Board of Directors fully supports Jon’s decision. Under President Tony Klockow’s leadership, the Board is well underway putting in motion its plan for succession.
Doll stepped in to lead the organization during an extremely difficult time for the community and United Way following the death of Bill Weissert who had served as its leader for the for over 10 years. Prior to joining the United Way of Sheboygan County, Jon had a distinguished career in nonprofit leadership that spanned 12 years and took him to Seattle, London and Eastern Europe before finally landing him back in his hometown of Sheboygan.
Klockow recently stated, “Jon is a visionary with a gift for rallying others around big ideas, and has been instrumental in bringing to life the community’s long-time aspiration of a United Way that consistently drives ever-increasing impact in the areas of highest need.” Klockow went on to elaborate on the organization’s progress during Doll’s tenure including: initiating unprecedented conversation among the Mental Health Community and piloting an innovative program of school-based behavioral therapy in the Random Lake School District; leading a collaborative effort to study Sheboygan’s food bank and pantry system and address the community’s issues surrounding the distribution of healthy food; launching a community partnership for children that will develop a comprehensive plan to advance school readiness through improved birth-to-five education; and successfully merging the county’s struggling Volunteer Center with United Way and enhancing the organization’s already strong relationship with key corporate partners.
With the Succession Planning Committee formed and close to completing a robust assessment of the future leadership needs of the organization, Klockow expects to be formally initiating a search – locally, regionally, and potentially nationally – for Doll’s successor by mid-November. Doll has indicated his interest in stepping down fully by the Fall of 2016.
