UNITED WAY OF SHEBOYGAN COUNTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, TOM MALMSTADT, TO RETIRE AND BOARD ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR

Sheboygan, WI – United Way of Sheboygan County announces that its executive director, Tom Malmstadt, will retire at the end of this year, after 3 years of dedicated service.

“Tom has done a great job during his time at the United Way, by providing community leadership, organizational strategic vision, leading successful campaigns for our agencies, and successfully growing our two Focus Areas – Provide Access To Healing (PATH) and Sheboygan County Community Partnership for Children (CPC),” said Matt O’Connor, Board President for United Way of Sheboygan County.

“I have been humbled and honored to have served the people of the county in the capacity of Executive Director of the United Way of Sheboygan County.  Through the generosity of the many individuals and corporations in the county, we have made a difference in the lives of many people,” said Tom Malmstadt.

Malmstadt has dedicated his career to serving our community, not only through United Way’s mission but also through more than 30 years in education. In doing so, he has greatly impacted individuals and families across Sheboygan County and the board expresses its tremendous gratitude to Malmstadt for his commitment and leadership.

After an intensive search, the board announces Kate Baer as the new Executive Director. She will start in this role on January 2, 2020 and serve along-side Malmstadt until he retires in late December.

 “We are extremely excited that Kate has agreed to serve in the capacity of Executive Director.  She brings a wealth of experience to the position having over 10 years of executive leadership in our non-profit community.  She will continue to focus on how the United Way builds coalitions, collaborations and works to establish collective impact for Sheboygan County,” said O’Connor.

Baer holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Nonprofit Management and a master’s degree in Counseling from Lakeland University. Within her 10 years of executive director experience in the nonprofit sector, she established multiple programs, led fund development and community outreach projects, and developed working relationships with private, public, and government sectors.

I look forward to building on the solid foundation that has been established over the last eighty years and advancing United Way's mission for a stronger and healthier Sheboygan County."

United Way of Sheboygan County continues to use collective impact to meet the needs of individuals and families in Sheboygan County. Thanks to the collective support and collaboration from individuals, families, companies and nonprofits, United Way’s Community Action Fund continues to support multiple focus areas and over 40 local programs and services.
