All About the Numbers

One of the busiest seasons in the United Way office is from February to May. The public is typically familiar with our other busy season in the fall for the United Way Campaign, but spring is when our Community Impact staff and volunteers spend hours and hours reviewing partner agency reports and using that information to make recommendations for the next year’s investments. The fun part of this process, at least for me, is seeing the results that the investments have delivered over the previous year.

It’s easy to focus on the money that’s raised; our staff and volunteers spend a lot of time working to raise the funds, and 10,000+ individual donors contribute. It can be more difficult to share with the greater public all of the good work that results from those raised funds. I’m happy to report that this week we release the 2015 Community Impact Report, a document that outlines some of the results that our partner agencies report on and results from our focus areas. I wish we could share with you all of the important data that we gather, but frankly there’s just too much! You can view the entire report by clicking the link at the top of this page, but here are some of the highlights:

Under our education building block, 6,182 Sheboygan County youth received mentoring services throughout the year. 6,182!

As part of our income building block, 16,679 nights of shelter were provided for those struggling with homelessness.

The early results of our PATH (Providing Access to Healing) focus area, under our health building block, are successful for the program’s first year in Sheboygan County. For the 2015-16 school year so far, 20 students are receiving weekly counseling sessions with licensed therapists in the schools that are currently offering the program: Random Lake School District and Sheboygan Area School District’s Etude Group.

Click the link at the top of the page to review the full report, and feel free to contact our office any time you are curious about how funds raised are invested and how they are making a difference in Sheboygan County.
