The pandemic continues to challenge the health and vitality of our community, nation and world. Coupled with the recent atrocity at our nation's Capitol, troubling news seems to be everywhere. This can lead to compassion fatigue, a state in which one can feel desensitized to tragedy ultimately decreasing empathy and making the experience difficult to process. The good news is there are ways to address the compassion 'pandemic' fatigue we are facing. Practicing self-care, such as daily gratitude and leaning into life's beauty and accomplishments (both big and small) will help.
When I reflect on my first full year at United Way, I will never forget the grit of our board and staff as well as the nonprofit sector response in our community. I am overcome by the generosity and resilience displayed by local businesses and individuals. Please take a moment to read some of these incredible achievements highlighted in our 2019/2020 Annual Report and Sheboygan County COVID-19 Relief Fund Report. A pandemic hasn't stopped us from being change agents to those in need. We Live United by increasing connection in our community through volunteerism, financial charitable support, and acts of kindness which will continue to help us increase empathy, navigate compassion fatigue, and make an impact for those in need.
I leave you with a quote by Edgar Linton. "Wherever there's a shadow, there's a light." Hold on as brighter days are on the horizon. United we rise.

Helps us recognize the countless people who have been a bright light in these trying times! There are new award categories beyond volunteerism this year that mirror the efforts made by community members to support continued and rising needs across the county. The nomination portal is now open and closes on February 9th.

Join us for an evening of music and stories streamed LIVE from Nashville on February 26th. Tickets are $25 and 50 percent of this show's ticket price will be donated to the United Way of Sheboygan County!
- Development Screenings | January 20, 2021
Registering to have your child screened by an ASQ-3 trained screener to learn more about your child’s development on January 20th. Screenings include these developmental areas: Language Problem Solving, Fine & Large Motor Skills, and Social Skills.
- Register children 3 or younger by emailing pat@frc-sc.org or calling Family Resource Center at 920-892-6706.
