Around the county, Volunteer Coordinators from various nonprofit agencies are preparing for United Way’s 2018 Day of Caring on Thursday, September 13.

“Without Day of Caring volunteers donating their time and efforts, we would be spending days upon days wrapping things up for the winter at REINS. We can't thank these volunteers enough for helping programs like REINS provide vital services and therapies," said Theresa Zimmermann, Program Director from REINS.

Last year, 35 non-profit project sites benefitted from the help of approximately 530 volunteers during the 2017 Day of Caring. If you participated last year, you know the excitement of the day starts at the Sheboygan A’s Ballpark! Volunteers and committee members enjoy a breakfast and, of course, the United Way of Sheboygan County Business Champions Mascot Race. Johnsonville’s Brat Man won last year and he will have the chance to defend his title at this year’s kickoff event which will start at 7:30a.m.!

After the morning kickoff, hundreds of corporate volunteers, campaign coordinators, nonprofit leaders and community members traveled to the projects across the county. They dug in the dirt, painted various corners, built walls, stuffed mailing pieces... this list goes on and on!

To celebrate the successes of the day, volunteers join the public at Fountain Park downtown for Taste Sheboygan! This year will be no different!

The collective impact at Day of Caring is remarkable. Thanks to volunteers, nonprofit employees can focus on providing quality support to individuals and families in the community! We cannot thank you enough for supporting our community!
